Removals and Moving

Flat and apartment moves

Moves where stairs, shared closes, lifts and narrow landings matter as much as the van.

About this service

Moving in or out of a flat or apartment comes with its own challenges: stairs, narrow hallways, tight turns on landings and lifts that may or may not take a sofa. We have experience of flat moves across East Kilbride and Glasgow, including tenement and high-rise buildings.

Because access affects the time a flat move takes, we ask about it before quoting. A second-floor tenement with a long walk from the nearest parking space is a very different job from a ground-floor flat with a car park at the door.

What the service includes

  • Carrying furniture and boxes up and down stairs and through shared closes
  • Using lifts where they are available and suitable
  • Dismantling furniture that will not fit through doors or around landings
  • Loading, transport and unloading to the rooms you choose

When customers use it

  • Moving out of a Glasgow tenement flat
  • Moving into a new-build apartment with a lift and a managed car park
  • A one-bedroom flat move that is too large for a car but too small for a full removal
  • Moving between flats in different towns, such as Glasgow to East Kilbride

What to tell us for a quote

  • Both addresses with postcodes and the floor of each flat
  • Whether there is a lift at each end and whether it is large enough for furniture
  • Stairs, narrow turns or anything that may make access awkward
  • Parking at each address: private, on-street free or paid/permit
  • A list of large furniture items
  • Your preferred date and time

You can include all of this in the quote form, which builds a WhatsApp message for you to review and send.

Access, parking and timing

Lifts

If you are relying on a lift, check whether the building requires it to be booked or protected for moves. Building managers often have rules.

Large items on stairs

Sofas and wardrobes may need to come apart to get round tight landings. Mention them so the right tools and time are planned.

Neighbours and shared closes

Keeping the close clear and letting neighbours know helps the move go smoothly.

Limitations

If an item physically cannot be carried safely down a stairwell, we will tell you rather than risk injury or damage to the building.

How booking works

  1. Tell us about the job

Use the quote form, WhatsApp or a phone call to send the addresses, items, access details and your preferred date.

  2. Receive your quote

We review the details and come back to you with a quote. Ask about anything that is unclear.

  3. Confirm the booking

Once you are happy with the quote, we agree the date and time with you directly.

  4. Moving day

We arrive, load carefully, transport your belongings and unload them where you want them.

Frequently asked questions

Do you charge more for stairs?

Stairs and access affect how long a job takes, so they are part of how every quote is worked out. Tell us the floor and access details up front for an accurate quote.

Can you move a sofa that does not fit round the landing?

Many sofas can be partly dismantled, for example by removing feet or arms. Tell us the make or send a photo, and we will advise.

Is a flat move a full removal or man with a van?

It depends on how much you have. A studio may suit our man with a van service; a larger flat is usually quoted as a removal. We will suggest what fits.
